My name is Susie Case, I am a suicide prevention and awareness advocate. I started doing this purpose work in 2014 when a beloved young man in our small community in Minnesota died by suicide. Within days, I found out that 3 other high school seniors in nearby communities also died by suicide. Hardly anyone was talking about this.
So I started a fb page called suicide and mental health awareness to help end the stigma. I know it's a hard conversation but…. You can't manage what you don't acknowledge. Over the years, I have had many people contact me regarding themselves or a loved ones suicide attempt, asking how to keep them safe. I would give them resources and an outline for a safety plan to have before a mental health crisis emerges. We have put this into writing.
The Self Care Safety Plan workbook is designed to help keep you or your loved ones safe with de-escalation techniques, positive coping statements, resources and suggestions on how to keep your environment safe. Currently in our country there is a lack of mental health professionals and mental health beds in hospitals.
The Self Care Safety Plan workbook is something that anyone can do with their loved one to open the door to healthy conversations. Together we can all help save lives. Its available on amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BMSV6XBW a portion of all proceeds from the Self Care Safety Plan are donated to Suicide Prevention and Awareness Initiatives.
Please reach out to a loved one today! Please get this in their hands, have a healthy conversation!
